The game of cricket has a known history spanning from the 16th century to the present day, with international matches played since 1844, although the official history of international Test cricket began in 1877. During this time, the game developed from its origins in England into a game which is now played professionally worldwide.
The Birkby CC Club was first founded in 1920 and has gone through numerous positive transformations and has achieved many successful achievements through the years with support from the local council, community, businesses and dedicated players who have stayed on mentoring and coaching kids at the club.
The club is situated in Birkby’s beautiful conservation area and opposite the The Huddersfield Hospital (previously known as The Nuffield Hospital).
Cricket is becoming more and more popular with children and frequently played across schools across the country.
We are a highly successful community cricket club, running a number of teams in 3 different leagues. We manage junior talent from the age 10-16 and we have had players move on to play for Regional, Yorkshire, and the North of England teams.
